The management plan

A land management strategy – the management plan – needs to be put in place prior to applying for inclusion on the World Heritage List.
A management plan has been developed jointly with local councillors and the wine industry in order to safeguard the long-term future of the property. This document brings together the undertakings made by the local stakeholders so that the Exceptional Universal Value is preserved.
These undertakings cover the central sites as well as a wider area (the area covered by the undertaking) which brings together the Champagne appellation’s 319 wine-producing districts.
