Since 2016, the CHHC initiative has held a major annual event at the end of June: the Séjour des Réconciliations.
The theme of reconciliation is very much in line with UNESCO's remit, as the organisation seeks to build peace in the minds of men and women through education, science and culture. Reconciliation is also important in a region that has frequently been beset by conflict and, importantly, was the setting for Franco-German reconciliation in July 1962. Furthermore, Champagne, the wine of diplomacy, is often associated with moments of celebration and fraternity between peoples and communities.
The Séjour des Réconciliations aims to provide an opportunity for people to discover or rediscover Champagne's architectural, landscape and human heritage, with a shared ambition of reconciliation with the environment, in addition to being a festive and friendly event.
-The Marche des Réconciliations (Walk of Reconciliation) is an annual walking event through the Champagne region, hosted in a different area each year. Visitors can select one of three routes and explore a winegrowing area and its heritage.
-The gala charity dinner is a chance to socialise and pay tribute to those who work to implement the values championed by UNESCO. The charity dinner also gives pride of place to all those who bring alive the Champagne Word Heritage site within their individual villages, wineries, and cellars.
